Tips for Facebook’s Algorithm Change
You may have heard about Facebook updating their News Feed algorithm. What does this mean? What does it mean for your Facebook marketing strategy? It may mean you have some changes to make. If your on Facebook (which you should be), then this new algorithm could affect your posts and who sees them.
The changes by Facebook are directly related to posting more high quality content in a user’s News Feed that they will be more interested in. According to a post from Facebook’s Newsroom, the social network will be “doing a better job of distinguishing between high-quality article on a website versus a meme photo.”
So memes that are not hosted on Facebook and particular topics Facebook thinks users are less interested in, will show up less. The algorithm will also provide related articles to the high-quality ones posted in a user’s News Feed.
So what can you do?
Know your audience. What do they want to know or see? What are their interests? Always keep your audience in mind when creating your content for social media. If you’re posting for your own interests, you’re doing it wrong.
Teach your audience. Remember the expression, “You learn something everyday,” and be the source of that learning experience for your audience.
Be noticeable. Meaning, be consistent in your posts. Whether that means you are using the same voice, or following a basic routine, make sure your audience is aware of your content.
Following these tips will help you stay in the News Feed of your audience with Facebook’s new algorithm.
