Hey Brands – Tag, You’re It!
Have you heard? Your clients and customers can now “tag” your business Facebook Page when they upload photos to their Facebook profiles.
Facebook users are now able to tag brands and product pages as well as people in their photos. Facebook has assured those who are concerned about privacy that they will still be able to control who sees the pictures via the privacy settings. Page admins can also control the photos that are added to a page via the posting options on the edit page.
Imagine how beneficial this can be to businesses – it allows your devoted fans to tell everyone they are connected with on Facebook about your business, simply by adding a tag to a photo they were going to share any way. With the proliferation of social media, people are now sharing their brand experiences with their social media groups by writing reviews and creating recommendations. Now they have the ability to tag pictures – and we all know a picture is worth a thousand words.
For example, say you’re at a Minnesota Twins game at Target Field drinking a Summit Extra Pale Ale that was brewed at Minnesota’s own Summit Brewing Company. Your friend takes a picture of you, adds it to their Facebook profile and tags the above companies. Their friends see the picture of you tagged with your name along with the brand tags, their friends see it, their friends see it……Get the picture?
As C.E.L. Founder Cindy Leines says, “Social media is real-time PR. It gives your fans an easy way to recommend you and to tell your story for you. The ability for your fans to tag your business on their Facebook photos marks just one more reason why you can’t afford NOT to explore social media strategically for your business – now more than ever before.“
