Cotter Schools Visual and Digital Brand Expansion
Rooted in the Catholic faith and founded more than 110 years ago, Cotter Schools is located in Winona, Minnesota. Its mission is to challenge students to achieve their full potential, create community and use their lives in service of others.
Cotter Schools began a new chapter with the start of the 2021-2022 school year. Joining with other educational systems in their community, Cotter Schools expanded learning programs beyond grades 7 through 12 to serve students as young as 16 months old. And CEL has been Cotter’s partner to help tell the story of growth using a coordinated rollout of integrated communications, as well as community engagement for students, families, staff and alumni.
CEL’s team refreshed Cotter’s brand identity and developed a consistent messaging framework for all communications. Elements include a new website, email marketing, presentation materials, paid advertising, direct mail, media relations and more. The refreshed brand identity updated the C and shield from the historic school crest and expanded the color palette. The refreshed brand standards also introduced new typography, added graphical patterns and established accessibility standards for website design.
