Apps of the Week: Customizing Your News
Many of us don’t have the time to comb through every site we get our news from. We are more likely to find 15 minutes in the day to skim through an app that organizes articles that peak our interest or that may be relevant to our business marketing strategy.
There are a lot of apps to choose from to organize the stories you care about seeing. So how can you choose the right one for you? We’ve picked our top three news reader apps!
Flipboard is described as a “personal magazine” for users to catch up on the news they care about. Flipboard allows you to choose a topic or search for one yourself to make into a “board” that has all the top stories related to the topic. It’s very easy to navigate by just flipping through. It also gives you the option to add any of your social media news feeds to a board. Flipboard is the one-stop shop for all your news and social media monitoring.
Zite looks at the attributes of an article and how it is shared across the web, pairs it with your interests, and puts it into your articles to read. Zite, like many others, allows you to choose preset categories or search for you own topic to organize your articles. Short on time? Zite also gives you the option to view your top stories, where articles based on previous articles you’ve liked or shared
Pulse allows you to organize your news outlets according to category. You’re given categories such as news, business, sports, lifestyle, technology, etc. and are given the option to customize the outlets you are shown within each category. Pulse is more organized by each news source, rather than just a category or topic.
